The NFL was drastically changed after one of many blockbuster trades went through. Stefon Diggs, long time Vikings and Bills WR, was just traded to the young and hopeful Houston Texans. This trade shakes up the AFC as it looks as if the Bills want to draft a young WR core after getting rid of Diggs and Gabe Davis, and the Texans look to load up their young roster and make a push for the Super Bowl. Who won this trade though?

Texans
Wow. The Texans are going all in for these next few years. They are taking full advantage of the rookie contracts of Tank Dell, CJ Stroud, Jalen Pitre, and many more. Genius move by the Texans’ front office and excellent rebuild in such short time. The Texans now have a great deep ball threat as well as a veteran RB1 in Joe Mixon. With money to spend, the Texans spent it effectively and only gave up a second rounder for Diggs. This will greatly improve Stroud’s production, and I expect a lot out of this Texans team for this upcoming season. Downside is that Nico Collins and Tank Dell’s production will go down now that Stroud has a weapon like Diggs. I’m probably going to be cautious when picking Collins or Dell in fantasy and will try and get them as a late round steal. I still expect Dalton Schultz to receive a lot of targets as he was one of Stroud’s favorites last season and will be able to get open for short gain (huge for PPR leagues). Stroud will rocket up fantasy draft boards as he has elite weapons around him and a great defense. Overall, I love this trade for the Texans and can’t wait to watch them next season.
Bills
Ummm… well, the Bills don’t really have a WR1 and currently have around $31 million in dead cap space because of Diggs. I think we all saw this trade coming sooner or later as it was apparent Diggs wanted out of Buffalo last season. He did not mesh with new OC Joe Brady and did not receive the targets he used to from Allen. Tension was clearly rising between Diggs and the Bills as Diggs was missing practices and made remarks on social media about QB Allen and the Bills. Doug McDermott has completely blown up this organization as they were not prosperous in the playoffs losing year after year. They lost key pieces on the defensive side of the ball as well further propelling this team into a rebuild mode. Many people might say this is Allen’s time to prove himself without a star WR similar to how Patrick Mahomes did in Kansas City. However, I doubt it. Allen is a great player, but I see him taking a major step back this season. I don’t think I ever have drafted Allen in fantasy, and I know I am avoiding him this season. The Bills’ Super Bowl window has sadly closed.
Conclusion
The Texans are taking an all in approach for the next few seasons adding offense and defensive talent in the offseason like Diggs, Mixon, Danielle Hunter, and Denico Autry to compliment their promising secondary and young QB. The think they won the trade for the short term and hopefully they can make and win a Super Bowl for the city of Houston. The Bills on the other hand are officially in rebuild mode after this trade. I think this was the right move long term for the Bills front office as it will clear up cap space for the future. However, I do think they gave up some valuable picks (a 4th and 5th) as we have seen good talent come out of those third day picks (Puka Nacua, Dak Prescott, etc). Overall the Texans clearly won this trade, but it will help the Bills down the stretch during their rebuild.
